Recovery After Surgery
Recent trials have shown that coiling procedures done on a ruptured aneurysm have a 7% lower mortality rate than clipping. However, clipped procedures result in a lower rate of returning aneurysms in cases of ruptured aneurysms, shown by angiography results. Endovascular coiling also has a faster recovery period.
It is recommended that patients who have endovascular coiling be vigilant to be able to detect any recurrences early. Suggested studies include an MRI/MRA, angiography, and CTA. One of the problems with coiled aneurysms is that resorting to surgical clipping has quite high risks.
