Recovery After Surgery

People with a burst aneurysm require immediate treatment. This includes restoration of regular breathing as well as reducing pressure in the brain. Most of the options for treatment are surgical, with one non-surgical option under study.

Medical hypotensive therapy means an intensive drug routine is used to heal ruptured intracranial aneurysms. Dr. Paul Slosberg introduced it in 1956 at the Mount Sinai Hospital. It is still being studied and used to a limited extent. The continued study of Dr. Slosberg shows that even when applied to unruptured aneurysms the therapy works. The treatment has shown improvement when used on three giant unruptured aneurysms.
